this wonderful clock was based on an original very rare and highly important Louis XV gilt bronze Pendule ‘À L’Éléphant’ by the esteemed clockmaker Jean Moisy housed in a magnificent case by Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain, Paris, date circa 1755

Provenance: Almost certainly the same clock owned by the marchand-mercier Lazare Duvaux in 1757.
Almost certainly the same clock sold by the latter to Madame Pâris de Montmartel on 15th December 1757.
