Product Details
this is a copy of a Victorian slate mantel clock from circa 1860, it is typical of the clocks found of this period, originally made in slate, my miniature example has a wooden case (over 38 individual pieces) ebonized to look like slate, with hand painted gilt decoration, this clock is a working clock, the dial measures just 8mm in diameter,
the original clocks used slate from Belgium and often movements from France, but where a common sight in homes of the period, this example being taken from the more decorative end,
scale 1/12th or 1 inch
made from Fruit-wood, colour blended sealed and hand polished in the traditional manor like all my work.
